5 Nintendo Ds Games You Can’t Buy In Stores – But Can Have With An R4 Ds Card

The Nintendo DS by itself is a really great gaming system. But add an R4 DS card to the mix, and a whole slew of homebrew programmers, and you have a handheld console.

1) LemmingsDS – An amazing classic game and it’s back.  Strategy, comedy and awesome gameplay!

Lemmings was truly a trend setting game and probably set the stage for many of todays puzzle / strategy games.It went on and was later converted to the Commodore 64 computer as well as IBM PC’s as well.I honestly think that this game actually set the standard for many of our favorite strategy / puzzle games.  All 120 of the original Amiga levels have been carefully redone for the Nintendo DS.  So you essentially get every single level that was originally designed and made for the Amiga system, and the c64 too.A must have game for anyone that loves funny, classic style games.

2) Quake DS – The original FPS!

It is the first and standard setting Quake that was released over 10 years ago for the PC.Can’t really say anything else about it.  Probably THE game that started the First person shooter genre.It’s now available for the Nintendo DSi system and can be played using an R4 DS Card.  Carefully and masterfully re-done for the Nintendo DS console.

3) xRick is the remake / conversion of one of the best classic platform games on the Amiga computer and now you can enjoy it on your NDS / DSi console

Another classic game that you always want to go back to and play over and over again.  Just put xRick on yoru R4 DS Card and plug it into your Nintendo DS and start playing one of the best platform side scrolling games of all time.  Rick Dangerous was probably one of the most popular side scrolling games of it’s time, right niext to Giana Sisters.Anyone that did not have a Nintendo DS system had either one or both of these games in lieu of.Side Scroller adventure game taken to it’s full potential.  Challenging, great graphics, and loads of fun!

4) DS Linux Turns Your Nintendo DS into a Portable Computer in your Pocket

Yes, the much desired and wanted / requested Linux for your Nintendo DS.  Before cards like the R4 DS Card, it was unimaginable for us to be able to load linux onto a system that fit in the palm of our hands.While there are several ports of this even for linux and differend game systems, you can’t really truly enjoy it that way you can with an R4 DS in your NDS because of the amazing touch game play.Because you can use the NS Stylus as a mouse, just as you would use it on your PC you truly do get the sam benefit of loading all of your favorite games and apps, etc… rigth onto your Nintendo DS.No longer just for personal computers, with the r4 DS card you can have linux on a new platform.  If you have a Nintendo DSi, then you’ll need the R4i SDHC version of the R4 DS Card.

5) ScummVM – The only way to really have the chance to play those old point and click adventure games!

If you absolutely love point and click games, like Monkey Island, Beneath a Steel Sky or others, then you have to try ScummVM.ScummVM is the ScummVM project. The ScummVM project is an attempt to re-engineer many classic point and click adventure games of the 80s and 90s to run on modern computer hardware. Games and Game system technology has changed tremendously since these games were released and as such, ScummVM tried (successfully) to replicate the gameplay of the original game in their true classic form. What you will find with the ScummVM emulator is that you do actually need a copy of the original game so that ScummVM can utlitze the graphics, sounds, and scrips that made the game work.
